# Your First Shell

From /shellcreator to a finished shell in a few minutes.

### Open the shell creator

Type `/shellcreator` in game. The Home screen opens with your recent shells and four ways to start.

### Start a new shell

Click **New shell**, give it a name and pick **Ready layout**. Choose **House**, size **Medium** and one bedroom, then **Create**.

The shell appears high in the sky above the Grapeseed fields and the editor opens: the floor plan on the left, the shell live in the game on the right.

### Change it

* Drag walls with the **Select** tool (`V`)
* Put doors and windows on a wall with the **Doors and windows** tool (`D`)
* Paint rooms with the **Paint** tool (`P`)
* Place furniture with the **Furniture** tool (`F`) and turn it with `R`

### Check it

The **Checks** button in the top bar shows what is missing. Click **Fix** next to a problem and most of them are fixed for you.

### Walk through it

Press **Walk** in the top bar and walk through the shell with your own character. `BACKSPACE` takes you back to the editor.

### Finish

Press **Finish**, pick **Build as shell** and the shell is installed on your server. It is added to RTX Housing automatically, and the **Housing config** window has a ready config for any other housing system.

## Ways to Start

| Start with          | What you get                                   |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Ready layout**    | A whole shell drawn for you from a few choices |
| **Empty plan**      | An empty plot to draw on                       |
| **My template**     | A copy of one of your templates                |
| **Copy of a shell** | A copy of a shell you already have             |
| **Import code**     | A shell from a share code (`RTXS1:...`)        |

### Ready layouts

| Building      | What is inside                                                                                               |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| House         | Living room, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms. With more floors the bedrooms go upstairs and stairs are added |
| Apartment     | Entrance hall, living room with kitchen, bedrooms and a bathroom on one floor                                |
| Studio flat   | One open room with a small bathroom in the corner                                                            |
| Garage        | Concrete garage with a storage room. Small fits 1 car, Medium 2, Large 3                                     |
| Mechanic shop | Workshop with 2 to 4 garage doors, reception, an office and a toilet                                         |
| Office        | Open office, offices, a meeting room and a toilet                                                            |
| Shop          | Shop floor with big windows, storage room, staff room and a toilet                                           |
| Warehouse     | Tall hall with two garage doors, a small office and a toilet                                                 |

Options: **Size** (Small, Medium, Large), **Floors** (1-4, House and Office), **Bedrooms** (0-4), **Bathrooms** (1-2), **Kitchen** (Open plan or Separate room) and a **Style**.

## The Home Screen

* **Home** - New shell, Continue your last shell, the four ways to start and your 6 most recent shells
* **Your shells** - every shell with a 3D picture, search and sort, and Open, Duplicate, Share code, Publish, Rename and Delete
* **Templates** - your templates, start a new shell from one
* **Help** - the basics, answers to common questions and every key

Every shell gets a 3D picture of itself automatically while you build.

Deleting a shell deletes it and its history. Resources you already built from it stay on your server.
